FEFLOW is now capable of saving a map projection with your file. Maps can be plotted in different projections and a *.prj file - as part of a shape file - can be used to define the projection of a file. With the additional information on projection, FEFLOW is able to locate the global coordinates of your project / its maps on the globe. Therefore, as soon as a map projection is defined, also publicly available online maps can be added as background maps to the view.
A projection can be defined at various stages of file creation.
Building a supermesh by the help of maps, a projection can be defined by choosing from a list of existing projections:

Selecting a projection during Supermesh creation
When files that have a projected coordinate system defined (usually in an accompanying *.prj file) are used for the creation of the supermesh, the user can choose to use one of the projections for the project. Only a projected coordinate system can be applied, a geographic coordinate system without projection (as the first two items in the screenshot below) will not be sufficient.

Selecting a projection from imported maps
If no projection is set while setting up the supermesh,
it can be set later on from the
Edit menu.
Once a Map Projection is defined, it will be applied to all maps, even if they come with a projection it will be converted to the projection defined for the file. The Map Information from the map's contect menu gives an overview of the original projection of the file (if any) and the currently applied map projection.
