FEFLOW 8.1 Update History

In the following, all relevant software changes between the release version 8.1.0 and the current update are listed.

New functionality

Supermesh Supermesh Processing panel New default value (120°) for Sharp angle is used now to preserve triangulation of 3D Supermesh during Supermesh Repair and Remesh.
Supermesh Snapping Functionalitiy in 3D Snap to Points, Lines and Faces methods have been extended now and they can operate on the 3D Supermesh geometry as well.
Geothermal Input type and values for Borehole Heat Exchangers The assignment of input type (i.e. inlet temperature, temperature difference, power and energy) as well as its input value has been revisited and made consistent throught the graphical interface. The BHE Editor contains now additional explanations (tooltips) of the different user options.
Geothermal Heat Input Rate (deprecated) The assignment of Heat Input Rate as boundary definition for Borehole Heat Exchangers is not anymore supported. The user should prescribe the Inlet-Pipe temperature via any of the following options: inlet temperature (prescribed value), temperature difference, power or energy.
Problem Settings Legacy settings A new section Legacy Settings has been introduced in the Problem Settings dialog, which will be used to list software options soon to become deprecated.

Medium Several bug fixes and major improvements in Supermesh Processing methods and 3D mesh generation (Update to Geode-FEFLOW 3.2.18)
Medium Fixed the initialization of coordinate system offset after runing Geode's 3D mesh generator.
Medium The issue of Drain/-fillable porosity parameter being NAN after changing Problem Class has been fixed.
Medium Time Span for the assignment of Energy (Time-Series) was active in the BHE Interconnector dialog. The input field has been corrected.
Medium The units of parameter "Volumetric heat capacity (Fluid)" were not consistance. The unit conversion has been improved.
Medium Well BCs were deleted from the Result DAC file after inactivation of boundary nodes. A new handling Inactive Wells via the Well Manager has been implemented.
Medium Select By Expression: Functionalitiy has been improved.

Fixed issues

Medium FEFLOW application terminated after changing the problem class. This misfunctionality has been corrected.
Medium Open Loop implementation in the Well Manager now supports the problem class "Unconfined - Phreatic".
Medium Switching between different internet licenses caused that FEFLOW main application did not respond. The issue has been fixed with a new implementation.
Medium FEFLOW main application closed after deleting a group of observation points. The crash has been corrected.
Medium Several software terminations by using the 3D Layer Configurator has been corrected.
Low Tooltips have been included in the new Observation Data dialog.
Low Inspection panel is now activated and displayed upfront every time the Inspection Tool is used.
Low The order of arguments for FEFLOW Python API (pdf.setProblemClass) has been now re-defined.
Low Properties of the mesh generators are saved correctly in the 2D Supermesh document.
Low Error "Cannot initialize Python interpreter in Linux" has been fixed. It is not required anymore a Python installation to only execute the FEFLOW console.
Low Legend in views is updated without any observable delay.
Low Inspection of In/Outflow on top/bottom, drain/-fillable porosity and source/sink is supported again.
Low After deleting 3D Supermesh elements, now the selection is cleanup.
Low Fixed issue of empty fields on BHE Dataset after exporting the boundary conditions.
Low Deletion of BHE boundary conditions have been improved.
Low Fixed issue on the parameters being passed to Geode volumetric mesh generator.
Low A mesh consistency check has been added to the input surfaces before these are used for the 3D Supermesh Surface Bounding Box tool.
